There are so many amazing resources for quality early childhood practices. We will try to keep up to date on links related to constructivist and Reggio inspired practices, materials, resources, and research.

ETSU
East Tennessee State University has a variety of programs in early childhood. We have licensure and non-licensure programs, as well as a minor option for undergraduates. At the Masters level there are three program options: non-licensure, initial licensure, and a thesis option. The faculty of the ETSU Early Childhood Education Program is proud to announce that this fall, 2008, our doctoral program in ECED enrolled its first students.

The Center of Excellence in Early Childhood Learning and Development
The Center of Excellence in Early Childhood Learning and Development at East Tennessee State University is a state, national, and international program influencing policy and services that directly impact the lives of young children and their families. The Center was established in 1985 and, in 1988, was recognized by the Tennessee Board of Regents and Tennessee Higher Education Commission as an "Accomplished Center". The Center's mission is to provide and support exemplary training, research, and service for young children, birth through 10 years of age, their families, and the people who work with them.

The Child Study Center (CSC) at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is a campus early childhood program that serves approximately 120 children from ages 3 months through 5 years. The CSC maintains a two-fold purpose: (1) a laboratory environment and clinical site for University students, and; (2) a full-day, full-year childcare program for families who are associated with the University or our local community. The CSC has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children since 1989 and holds the highest rating of 3-Stars with the State of Tennessee's Star Quality Rating System. The developmentally appropriate program recognizes that children construct knowledge through interactive environments in which their families are respected as part of the collaborative team of support and facilitation.

Little Bucs
Quality Early Childcare Program for children of East Tennessee State University students. Provides a developmentally appropriate setting focused on project work and following the interest of the child. Our philosophy contains a set of fundamental values that are based on an image of the child as curious, competent, and capable of co-constructing knowledge; and supported by an environment that is abundant with a host of resources and time.
This site is affiliated with the Child Study Center and is part of the annual NAREA conference and roundtable that is embedded within the ETSU Annual Early Childhood conference in July [see calendar page].

North American Reggio Emilia Alliance
The North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA) is a network of educators, parents, and advocates seeking to elevate both the quality of life and the quality of schools and centers for young children. We envision a world where all children are honored and respected for their potential, their capabilities, and their humanity. Our mission is to build a diverse community of advocates and educators to promote and defend the rights of children, families, and educators of all cultures through a collaboration of colleagues inspired by the philosophies and experiences of the 0-6 education project of Reggio Emilia, Italy.

Spring Hollow Community Learning Center
At Spring Hollow Community Learning Center, children are encouraged to explore and express their understanding of the environment. Our students are invited to experience their world through a variety of modes and expressions, including collage, dance, literature, nature, paint, pottery, puppet play, sculpture, shadow play, and writing. We create an atmosphere of acceptance and support, which develops and enhances the child's self-esteem, self-discipline, identity, and acceptance toward others. Nothing without joy is a motto.
